Away in a manger... I loved this concrete oversized nativity scene. It would be so perfect for an outdoor courtyard. This is an antique store in Agora Hills that is brimming with eye candy. I love to daydream in here.

Ahhh BEAUTY
I can't help myself. Even on a busy afternoon of running errands, if I'm near PomPom, I have to go in and just enjoy.

Tis The Season
While this bungalow may not have the Spanish charm we love, we put an offer on it today. It has only been on the market for 3 days and already there is an offer pending. We went ahead and decided to put our chip in the pot to see if we could be a backup offer. This neighborhood is wonderful. There are mature trees lining the street. It's very near Paramount Studios. We haven't seen inside, but these days that's just a detail if the price is right and the location is good. We'll see how this goes.

SAY GOODBYE TO NOVEMBER
I can't help but be drawn to the architectural features of these. And look how the mirrors are layered on the wall. I stumbled upon this nursery, Rolling Greens Nursery in Culver City. It's magical with lots of different areas to get lost in. They are opening up a second place just a stones throw from our place. I may have to apply for a part-time position.

FALL LA LA LA LA
Oh how I love to visit my favorite store in Los Angeles, Pom Pom. I can't say enough how the minute I step into this shop, I'm enveloped in a calming sensation that is so joyful. Step inside with me...

Picturesque Bungalow Fixer
Take a peek inside the house starting in the makeshift basement and walking up the steps. We felt it had such charm, but the foundation issue is very intimidating. We'll pass on this one.

A SELECTION OF BUNGALOWS
THE HUNT HAS BEGUN! I am in search of our new bungalow. A place to call our own. I'd like to find something before the end of November. This bungalow, while true it's very sad (they call it a major fixer or a tear down), has an excellent location. Very close to my husband's work. We are looking for a "project" yet this is out of our price range. We're thinking of asking $90,000 less. Currently it's on the market for $490,000 and has been on the market for 253 days. I think it's time they lower they price. I'm thinking it's a family owned house and they know what the area is worth, so they're wanting as much money as possible. Which is absolutely understandable, but clearly it isn't selling for that amount. Might have foundation issues.
This is the bonus of the house. The view is wonderful. It overlooks Burbank. Yes, that's smog in the background, but we like to think of it as haze.
This is a house we put an offer in on, yet haven't looked inside. Price $345,000 990 sq ft. and believe it or not, it's a cheap price. The video starts at the back of the driveway and continues to the front of the house. As much as I love the tree, I'm afraid it would have to go.
We are going to look inside this house on Wednesday. Our offer that was submitted has expired so we are starting from scratch. It's a short sale and that's a new experience for us. We'll see how it looks and then decide if we want to put in an offer. It's farther from my husband's work so his commute would start to hedge around 40 minutes, although he's not sure.

ETSY VIDEO CONTEST
http://www.etsy.tv/video/Grow-with-Etsy
I got this crazy idea to make this sweet video and thought you vintage etsy friends would like to rate it.
It IS a contest, so the more ratings the better. Thanks! Have a great weekend.
TOTALLY TURQUOISE
I love this man trying to hold the door closed. Modesty. My new fascination is the small balls on pipe cleaners. I've been seeing them at estate sales in various colors. I'll share with you some of my many finds later.
Every morning my peace angel greets me and I take a moment... for Peace on Earth.
The magnificent murano style mirror was a steal. I was shopping with my mom and she saw one on display and wanted it, so the clerk went back to get the last one in stock. Sadly, the mirror part of it was shattered. The clerk gave my mom a discount off the floor (wall) model and I asked what were they going to do with that broken piece? Her response, "Toss it." I gasped silently and quickly responded, if I give you $25, can I have it? Needless to say, my mom and I left the store very happy with our purchases. I had a new mirror cut and there it hangs in our bathroom. What a find! And the color perfectly matches our bathroom 1940's tile.

ORGANIZING OFFICE
I found this at an estate sale and thought it'd be perfect for the office. I'm trying to move to a french country look. I think the blue paint job has to go. Thinking about a cream color, something simple. Any thoughts?

FINALLY
The hydrangea in the garden have made their appearance and these are the first cuttings to grace the house. There's something so peaceful about white and pink. Do you have favorite flowers that are growing now?

ORCHID FARM
I am so excited that my orchids are reblooming. I call them my orchid farm. So beautiful. The view makes handwashing dishes not so bad.

OUTDOOR ROOM
This is the outdoor room of the quaint 840 sq.ft bungalow.
Here is a peek of the house. The space is very small. We went up there the other night to see what things were like. There's something very sweet about this spot. The house will be sold in June, like it or not.... Could it be our new home?

FOUND TREASURES
Can you believe I found these on the street? Someone had them laying curbside to be tossed and I couldn't resist taking them home. There are a couple of missing panes, but so much charm! Don't know where they'll end up. Perhaps in a homemade outdoor garden room someday? Which reminds me, our hunt continues for our bungalow. We have our eye on one that's 840 sq. ft. It needs work, it's too small, there's no washer/dryer but other than that:) it's magical outside. I'll get a picture of the outside view and you can see what you think.
I LOVE this table.... it would never fit in the small house we're eyeing but the thought of all my friends and family gathered around sharing good laughs and turkey sandwiches (I'm no cook) fills me with joy. And isn't that the whole point. Gather the people and things around you that bring you joy.

HAPPY MAY DAY
Happy May Day! Did you ever celebrate by creating a Maypole with ribbons? Life couldn't get any better when this kind of day lands on a Friday.
I stopped into this antique store and found plenty to put on my wish list.
I love all the white. So calm, so pretty.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this mirror. Would it be horrible if I painted it white?
If we had a house right now, I'd snatch this niche up and put it between the studs to add instant character. Voila!

SAD TIMES
I was in Santa Monica heading to my favorite store and was greeted by these signs. While I had heard that Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic was closing stores, I never imagined this one to be part of it. I have since learned that all her stores are going to be closed. For so many years, I would go into this store and soak up the beauty, buying an occasional thing or two. I loved everything about that world. I bought Rachel's books, studied the look and tried to replicate it in my own way.
A couple years ago, I was at the Santa Monica Flea Market and saw Rachel hunting for treasures. I couldn't let the moment go by so I approached her and told her how much I enjoyed her style and what an inspiration she was to me. She graciously thanked me and wanted to know if I was "in the business". I only wished.
So as Shabby Chic closes it's doors and reorganizes it's life, I am reminded that things happen along our journey we're not expecting. In such cases, we do what we can, with our head held high, gather our support around us and re-emerge stronger than before. All the best to Rachel.
